What is Acclaim Accreditation?

Launched in 2012, Acclaim Accreditation is the health and safety accreditation service provided by Supplier Assessment Services. We carry out an online assessment of your company’s health and safety documentation and work activities as an independent competent assurance of the systems you have in place. As an SSIP members scheme, Acclaim Accreditation supports the objectives of SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement) to improve health and safety standards across the UK and reduce duplication of paperwork in procurement.

Spotlight on SSIP

Staff at work.

A huge problem for Suppliers is the need to be assessed by multiple health & safety schemes. By becoming health & safety assessed with an SSIP scheme, you have satisfied the criteria for all other SSIP members’ schemes – saving you from having to pay multiple assessment fees.

Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) was developed to:

  • Act as an umbrella body, which is recognised by a large and growing number of buyers
  • Give confidence to buyers that you have been successfully assessed to the SSIP core criteria
  • Ensure you only need one SSIP scheme, rather than collecting several health & safety accreditations
  • Give you freedom of choice regarding your scheme supplier
  • Reduce duplication

The Acclaim Accreditation process

1

Please download this Acclaim ‘checklist’ and use it to ensure you are uploading the correct documents/evidence into the application form.

2

Complete each of the 12 questions, providing evidence to support each answer. Use this checklist to ensure you have provide everything that is required before submitting your form.

3

An Acclaim administrator will then check your application for completeness. Once the application is satisfactory, it will be sent to an SSIP qualified assessor for review within a 10 day period.

More about the process

You will pass the assessment if you can show you have the systems and procedures in place to adequately manage Health and Safety. The Acclaim Accreditation will be uploaded to the SSIP website – viewable by any buyer to check the validity of the certificates.

If there is insufficient information to pass you, your form will be returned with comments from the assessor as to what information is still required to pass. You will need to upload the requested information and resubmit your form so the assessor can carry out a second review.

If you do not provide sufficient information after 3 attempts, the assessment will been peer group reviewed by assessors before failing and the applicant will be given guidance on the areas in which they are weak and need improvement before reapplying.
